This means understanding and managing one’s own emotions. The purpose of this is to ensure 1) that your feelings don’t control your actions. e.g. screaming at a loved one, speaking nasty words when angered, self-abuse, or sabotage when difficult feelings arise.The other purpose of emotional regulation is to bring yourself back to emotional equilibrium after experiencing heavy or difficult emotions. Yet, to do so in a healthy way, for example: sitting with your emotions in stillness, letting yourself cry softly until the emotions begin to pass, breathing deeply, and organizing your thoughts before you speak, taking a warm shower, or expressing your emotions in a healthy way.Emotional regulation helps you respond thoughtfully to intense emotions rather than acting impulsively.Around the age of 2 to 5 years old, children start to learn basic self-soothing techniques.Yet, children are in no way yet capable of emotional regulation on their own. It should be and needs to be always done in conjunction with the parents/caregivers.The parents mirror to the child what healthy emotional regulation looks like and support the child in coming back to emotional equilibrium and balance.The repetitive process of this, over many years as the child matures, is what makes the difference between an adult who is able to self-regulate vs. the adult who often reacts impulsively and inappropriately to his or her own intense feelings.

What are the main common emotional and energetic reasons for getting a cold?&nbsp;When we are ready to release old belief systems and make a quantum leap to a new perspective, where we release old beliefs and bring in new or more truthful beliefs, it can take a toll on our body, and our body goes into a cold-slash-flu state to detox all of these old mental frameworks out of our mental body.&nbsp;The flu and the cold has always been seen as a way for the body to detoxify and cleanse in the holistic community. The same perspective can be put onto emotional release, since, as we know, as I've spoken about it before, all the bodies are intertwined.&nbsp;Therefore, detoxifying the physical opens up pathways to detoxify the emotional, mental, ethereal, spiritual.&nbsp;

Trying so long to be something I am not.&nbsp;Watering down my messages, so as to not trigger those in my social circle.Reframing my way of delivery, as to try &amp; squeeze into a box. In an attempt to please the algorithms. Yet simultaneously diluting the potency of my delivery.&nbsp;Sacrificing quality for quantity, depth for surface level.&nbsp;Feeling that, my own authentic expression, was not enough. Feeling that me, in my true essence, was not enough.&nbsp;Is this not the trap of the 21st century? Focusing on the outer &amp; forgetting the inner. To please, to fit in, to go viral.&nbsp;In this way, becoming a product of our society rather than a revolutionary force against it.It is true, your ego masks are not enough. They will never be enough.Although, the true you? Your soul self with all of its innate talents, traits &amp; skills. This you is not only enough, it is abundant.&nbsp;Simply by being you, as true as you can be, abundance will flow naturally towards you &amp; out of you. Such is the gifting of an authentic being: the art of receiving &amp; service, in balance.Your physical body becomes a vessel for this natural flow. The grounded balance between giving &amp; taking.&nbsp;Yielding your own talents, traits &amp; skills. In order to gift other beings &amp; mother earth, simultaneously.Being yourself may not make you popular, yet it will lead you to alignment. I’ve said it before &amp; I will say it again.The highest frequency is NOT love, the highest frequency is AUTHENTICITY.

Boundaries are your greatest friend. Like a sword, that keeps on getting sharpened, whereby the blade continues to become sharper, still.As boundary setting, is a skill which is in constant motion &amp; evolution (at least it should be!). The process whereby you learn to set firmer boundaries &amp; to set them much faster too. As your self love &amp; respect grows as well, so does your capcity to set &amp; uphold healthy boundaries.&amp; the more you love yourself, the more you want to protect yourself.The more you see yourself as a unique, stunning diamond, the more you understand how you are so worthy of respect &amp; kindness.In fact, simply because you exist, are you worth of respect &amp; compassion.In essence, it’s your birth right.Much love, Modern Mystic Medicine

What is a parentified child?In its core essence, this is when a young child is forced to become “like a parent” in the home, because of the emotional immaturity of the parents. In this way, the roles reverse. The child starts to act in some ways like the parent &amp; the parent starts to act like this child. The roles in this dynamic get reversed, hence the name given, parentified child. Once again, in hopes, that if she can take care of the parents needs, that finally the parent will then be able to turn around and take care of the needs of the child. Some Examples of this:The child had to walk on egg shells around parents who were unable to self-regulate &amp; were often emotionally (possibly physically) volatile. These parents were emotionally unpredictable &amp; out of control. This is why the child began trying to soothe the parents emotions, as to keep the parent calm &amp; to prevent and outburst from the parent. In essence, to protect herself from this emotionally, out of control, unpredictable, parent.&nbsp; Another example, a parent who is often sulking &amp; in the victim mode, the child will transform to be the people pleaser of the parent, to hopefully make them ‘happy’, once again.&nbsp;The child hopes by attuning to and adjusting its behavior to take care of the unmet emotional needs of the parents, that in return, the child will finally get its own needs taken care of. For example, trying to soothe the emotions of a stressed out, frazzled adult. Or, trying to stay quiet so as to not disturb an overstimulated, frustrated parent. Or, for example, having praised their parent, to give them a lot of fawning attention to the one or both of parents, or act in other ways to prevent punishment.&nbsp;In some cases of more extreme physical abuse, taking on caretaking roles, such as taking care of a younger child’s needs. And being met with larger, more adult-like responsibilities such as putting a meal together for herself. Or putting her younger sibling to bed.&nbsp;
